Coronavirus in Oregon: State reports 1,152 new cases, 29 deaths - OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority on Thursday reported 1,152 new confirmed or presumptive coronavirus cases and 29 additional deaths.

Thursday’s figures broke a streak of two days where the state reported more than 40 deaths.

At least 1,737 Oregonians have died with COVID-19 so far during the pandemic, with nearly one-third of fatalities in December alone. State officials did not immediately provide details of the deaths reported Thursday.

Meanwhile, 10,172 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered Wednesday. Another 6,183 vaccine doses were used in previous days but not entered into the state’s system until now

The state said in a statement that it hit Gov. Kate Brown’s goal of administering 12,000 doses in a single day last week but health leaders want to “sustain and expand our daily totals.”

As The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Thursday, several large Portland hospitals are sitting on sizable vaccine stockpiles and the state’s tracking system is riddled with errors.
