Coronavirus in Oregon: State reports 257 new cases, 2 deaths - OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority on Sunday reported 257 new coronavirus cases and two COVID-19 deaths.

The new figures come as Multnomah County and other counties across the state are easing coronavirus restrictions as vaccination rates rise. Multnomah County moved from “high risk” to “lower risk” on Thursday, allowing restaurants, bars and gyms to expand capacity and enabling the Blazers to welcome 8,050 fans to the Moda Center for Saturday’s 20-point playoff win over the Denver Nuggets.

Oregon is now averaging fewer than 400 cases a day for the first time since early April. But while the state has cut its spring peak in half, Oregon’s daily cases remain stubbornly high compared to the rest of the nation. Only four states have identified more cases per capita in the past week, according to New York Times data.

Vaccines: Oregon reported 17,982 newly administered doses, which includes 8,104 Saturday and the remainder from previous days.

Where the new cases are by county: Baker (1), Benton (2), Clackamas (29), Columbia (6), Coos (2), Curry (1), Deschutes (15), Douglas (12), Harney (1), Jackson (7), Jefferson (8), Josephine (2), Klamath (6), Lane (11), Linn (16), Marion (30), Morrow (3), Multnomah (65), Polk (1), Sherman (1), Tillamook (1), Union (1), Washington (26), Yamhill (10).

Who died: Oregon’s 2,667th death linked to COVID-19 is a 44-year-old Marion county man who tested positive on May 28 and died May 28 at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center. Officials are confirmed whether he had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 2,668th death is a 57-year-old Marion county man who tested positive on May 18 and died May 23 at Providence Portland Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.

Hospitalizations: 250 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, down seven from Saturday. That includes 60 people in intensive care, up four from Saturday.

Since it began: Oregon has reported 201,260 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,668 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 3,947,186 vaccine doses administered, fully vaccinating 1,843,416 people and partially vaccinating 393,926 people.
