Coronavirus in Oregon: State reports 411 new cases, 1 death - OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority announced 411 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with one new death, raising the state’s coronavirus death toll to 2,138.

The new numbers come as testing and vaccination efforts continue to be affected by the weekend’s icy conditions, as fewer than 7,600 inoculations were given in recent days — about half the usual amount — and a little over 8,000 COVID test results were reported.

Mass vaccinations sites at the Oregon Convention Center and Portland International Airport closed over the weekend due to the weather, causing thousands of appointments to be rescheduled, but have since reopened. Oregonians 75 and older became eligible to sign up for a shot online Monday morning.

Where the new cases are by county: Baker (2), Benton (15), Clackamas (40), Columbia (1), Coos (11), Crook (2), Curry (3), Deschutes (8), Douglas (37), Harney (1), Jackson (42), Jefferson (3), Josephine (13), Klamath (2), Lake (3), Lane (21), Lincoln (1), Linn (6), Marion (25), Multnomah (134), Polk (6), Umatilla (4), Wallowa (3), Wasco (1), Washington (22) and Yamhill (5).

Who died: The 2,138th death is an 85-year-old Marion County man who tested positive Feb. 7 and died Feb. 14 at Salem Hospital. He had underlying conditions.

The prevalence of infections: On Tuesday, the state reported 348 new positive tests out of 8,125 tests performed, equaling a 4.3% positivity rate.

Who’s in the hospital: The state reported 195 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were hospitalized Tuesday, 15 fewer than Monday. Of those, 51 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, two fewer than Monday.

Vaccines administered: Oregon has administered 691,455 first and second doses out of 905,725 received, which is about 76.3% of its supply. Oregon reported 7,568 newly administered doses, which includes 5,282 on Monday and the remainder from previous days.

Since it began: Oregon has reported 150,875 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,138 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported over 3,419,985 lab reports from tests.
