Publix to offer coronavirus vaccines at Pinellas, Pasco stores - Tampa Bay Times

More Tampa Bay Publix locations will soon offer the coronavirus vaccines to patients 65 and older, the grocery chain announced Tuesday.

Pinellas and Pasco counties have been added to the Lakeland company’s vaccination program, which offers the Moderna vaccine at select Publix locations.

Florida residents who are 65 or older are eligible and can start reserving appointments online Wednesday starting at 6 a.m. More slots will become available on Friday at 7 a.m. Appointments will begin Thursday and run through Wednesday Feb. 11.

Hillsborough County stores have yet to be added. Hernando County locations have already been offering the vaccine. Nassu County was also added to the program Tuesday.

The new additions bring Publix’s vaccination program to 325 stores in 23 counties across the state.

“We understand how many people in our communities want to receive this critical vaccine, and it is our privilege to administer doses to the residents of Florida,” CEO Todd Jones said in a statement. “With each distribution, we remain grateful for the role we are able to play in helping protect the health and safety of as many people in our communities as possible.”

The latest Publix vaccine offerings are part of a partnership with the state.

Publix spokeswoman Maria Brous confirmed that Publix is also partner in the new federal vaccine program but said the company is waiting to get more details, such as how many doses it will recieve. She said the retailer expects to continue receiving vaccines from the state as well.

Publix has listed 19 Pasco stores and 42 Pinellas stores as participating in the latest roll out.

Appointments must be made ahead of time. Those seeking to become vaccinated must bring proof of residency to receive the vaccine and can register for appointments at publix.com/covidvaccine.
