Oregon’s coronavirus outlook remains grim, with 830 new cases and eight new deaths reported Saturday, along with more total hospitalized patients than the state has seen since late January.

The case growth comes as no surprise, with warnings of consequences growing in tandem with ever-increasing daily case and hospitalizations counts. Friday’s new case total of 1,020 was the highest recorded in more than three months.
Hospitalizations are among the primary measures Gov. Kate Brown is using to decide whether to shut down indoor dining in some particularly hard-hit counties. Saturday’s total of 295 coronavirus patients occupying hospital beds falls five short of Brown’s cutoff for moving what appears to be a dozen counties into the “extreme risk” category.
Vaccines: Oregon reported 53,765 newly administered doses, which includes 29,160 on Friday and the remainder from previous days. On average, Oregonians have been getting about 35,000 doses a day over the last week.
Where the new cases are by county: Baker (6), Benton (12), Clackamas (106), Clatsop (1), Columbia (7), Coos (5), Crook (8), Curry (7), Deschutes (82), Douglas (11), Harney (1), Hood River (2), Jackson (47), Jefferson (3), Josephine (12), Klamath (38), Lake (1), Lane (70), Lincoln (6), Linn (34), Malheur (1), Marion (65), Multnomah (130), Polk (10), Tillamook (6), Umatilla (8), Union (3), Wallowa (1), Wasco (6), Washington (117) and Yamhill (24).
Who died: Oregon’s 2,477th death connected to the coronavirus is a 69-year-old Clackamas County man who tested positive March 22 and died March 27 at Portland Adventist Medical Center.
Oregon’s 2,478th death is a 61-year-old Coos County man who tested positive April 16 and died April 22 at Bay Area Hospital.
Oregon’s 2479th death is a 75-year-old Douglas County man who tested positive Oct. 22 and died Nov. 23 at his residence.
Oregon’s 2,480th death is a 68-year-old Hood River County man who tested positive March 21 and died March 26 at his residence.
Oregon’s 2,481st death is a 91-year-old Marion County man who tested positive Sept. 4 and died March 5 at his residence.
Oregon’s 2482nd death is a 91-year-old Multnomah County woman who tested positive Nov. 23 and died March 2 at her residence.
Oregon’s 2483rd death is a 71-year-old Multnomah County man who tested positive Dec. 10 and died March 7 at his residence.
Oregon’s 2484th death is a 46-year-old Multnomah County man who tested positive posthumously Dec. 17 and died Dec. 14 at his residence.
Each person had underlying health conditions or state officials were working to determine if the person had underlying medical conditions.
Hospitalizations: 295 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, up 19 from Friday. That includes 66 people in intensive care, up two from Friday.
Since it began: Oregon has reported 179,930 confirmed or presumed infections and 2,484 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the nation. To date, the state has reported 2,765,229 vaccine doses administered, fully vaccinating 1,144,023 people and partially vaccinating 565,161 people.
