Ohio reports 1,855 new coronavirus cases: Sunday update - cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health reported Sunday that the number of confirmed or probable infections of the novel coronavirus had risen to 1,039,455, up 1,855 since Saturday.

The state did not report any new deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, the total number of deaths is no longer available daily. It will be updated two times a week.

The state reported 2,048 new cases Saturday.

In the past 24 hours, COVID-19 hospitalizations statewide rose by 31, which is one-third of the 21-day rolling average of 93 daily hospitalizations. Two COVID-19 patients were transferred to the ICU in the past 24 hours, lower than the current 21-day rolling average of 10.

Sunday’s case count is slightly lower than the 21-day rolling average, which currently sits at 1,891.

Ohio reported another 47,535 COVID-19 vaccines started, meaning at least one dose has been given, as of Sunday afternoon. A total of 4,104,194 vaccines have been started in the state, representing 35.11% of Ohio’s population. A total of 2,615,916 vaccinations have been completed (22.38% of Ohio’s population).

Coronavirus statistics on weekends often lag due to reporting delays.

There are more than 135 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and nearly 3 million deaths worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins researchers. In the U.S., there are greater than 31 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and nearly 562,000 COVID-19 deaths.
