Mobile vaccine centers in Colorado shut down by angry anti-vaxxers - msnNOW

Oh, just take your horse dewormer and leave normal people alone.

Colorado health officials reportedly pulled three mobile vaccination units off the streets over Labor Day weekend following abuse by rabid anti-vaxxers.

Jefferson County Public Health executive director Dawn Comstock told the Denver Post she was “angry” at the selfishness of passersby who recently taunted and harassed medical workers trying to inoculate their communities against the deadly COVID pandemic, which has killed more 650,000 Americans since 2020.

Another individual tossed an unidentified liquid at a nurse stationed at a mobile in front of a Jefferson County restaurant.

“I will not put the hardworking public health staff in harm’s way,” Comstock said.

She only plans to dispatch mobile units to areas where the safety of health care providers can be guaranteed.

“Unfortunately it’s not safe anymore,” she said.

As of Aug. 29, the Post reports, a trio of mobile vans managed to administer 11,000 vaccine shots to people in two Colorado counties since spring. Comstock blames disinformation for much of the anger against the science in place to try and end the pandemic.

“People are accepting lies about these safe and effective vaccines,” she said. “This has got to stop.”

Various right-wing cable outlets and websites have pushed unproven and sometimes dangerous alternatives to vaccines, including the anti-parasitical drug ivermectin, which in large doses, can be dangerous. Some parts of the country have reported problems with human beings purchasing and consuming animal-grade versions of the drug. The FDA issued a warning last week that medicines intended to deworm livestock should not be taken by people.
